Royal Society 'Newton Advanced Fellowships'

Royal Society has launched “Newton Advanced Fellowships” Scheme to provide established international researchers with an opportunity to develop the research strengths and capabilities of their research group through training, collaboration and reciprocal visits with a partner in the UK.

Application deadline of the scheme is 3pm on Tuesday 10 March 2020.

Subjects Covered

Research must be within the Royal Society’s remit of natural sciences, which includes but is not limited to biological research, chemistry, engineering, mathematics and physics. For a full list, please click.

Eligibility

Applicant from Turkey (Overseas Applicant)

  • The overseas-based project leader (“the Applicant”) must have completed a PhD or have extensive research experience at an equivalent level at the time of application.
  • The Applicant must be working as an independent researcher at a Turkish institution and should not have more than 15 years of post-doctoral research experience.

UK-based Co-applicant

  • The UK-based researcher (“the Co-applicant”) must have completed a PhD or have extensive research experience at an equivalent level at the time of application.

Value of Funding and Support Provided

This scheme provides up to £37,000 per year for up to two years covering:

-salary top up of £5,000 for the overseas-based researcher and/or project leader ("the Applicant") from the partner country

-research support

-travel and subsistence

-training costs
